Jeff Berg, Technical Director/Project Manager, CCRA

Mr. Berg brings to Hill Top Research over 13 years of clinical trial experience.   He serves as the resident technical expert, trainer and consultant to the local clinical site in St. Petersburg, FL, business development and the Hill Top clients with in-depth experience in patch safety studies, pediatric studies, sunscreen safety use, head lice, cold sore, cosmetic claim/consumer preference and neutraceutical trials.   He also has served as P.I.  or Sub-investigator on a variety of clinical trials.   Mr. Berg obtained his B.S. from Eckerd College, majoring in Marine Biology.  He is a member of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists and the International Society for BioEngineering and the Skin.  

-Elsie Kohoot, Skincare Specialist

Ms. Kohoot brings 22 years experience to Hill Top Research.   Her area of expertise is dry skin evaluation, patch, acne fine lines testing, comedogenicity slide evaluations, bioinstrumentation and use studies.   She as been involved in study management, protocol development, the coordination and analysis of data and reporting for clinical studies.   She developed and implemented the dry skin evaluation training program, and is an approved investigator in the area of moisturization testing and patch test studies.  She has six publications/presentations to her credit in dermatology.   She received her B.A. in Psychology from the University of Manitoba.   Ms. Kohoot is  a member of the Canadian Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Association, the International Society for Bioengineering and the Skin, and a board member of the Health Care Products Association of Manitoba.

- Micah Humphrey, St. Petersburg

Micah Humphrey brings to Hill Top Research over 7 years of experience managing and coordinating a variety of clinical studies with in-depth experience in antiperspirant and deodorant efficacy testing, fragrance longevity, and patch safety trials including cumulative irritation and repeat insult patch tests. He is also involved in study design and protocol development as well as having served as the company’s Manager of Report Writers. Mr. Humphrey is a qualified Principal Investigator and has served in this role on over 25 trials. He is a qualified odor judge as well as a trained erythema grader for patch studies. Mr. Humphrey obtained his B.S. from Eckerd College, majoring in Marine Science. He is a member of ISBS and is head of the Hill Top Research AP/DEO team with responsibilities including oversight of all AP/DEO studies conducted at Hill Top Research as well as the conduct of annual training of odor judges at all sites.

- Joelle Potrebka, Hair care specialist

Joelle Potrebka brings to Hill Top Research 20 years of experience, coordinating and managing several study types, such as SPF, patch, dry skin and dandruff.   Ms. Potrebka is a qualified Principal Investigator in the area of SPF and anti-dandruff shampoo efficacy testing.   She is a trained grader for sunscreen testing, dry skin, patch and dandruff.  Ms. Potrebka obtained her B.A. in Psychology from the University of Manitoba.   She is a member of the Canadian Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Association, and Health Care Products of Manitoba.  She has six publications to her credit.

- Otto Mills, Acne specialist

Otto Mills joined the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate Group on Molecular Biology in 1965 and The Department of Dermatology, School of Medicine in 1967.  His first appointment at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School was in 1984, where he is a member of the Department of Dermatology. He has lectured by invitation at universities and medical meetings in the United States, Europe and Asia and authored or co-authored over two hundred publications—www.pubmed.com (Mills O, Mills OH and Mills OH Jr).

Dr. Mills has served as the Chair of Dermatologic and Allergic Diseases, American Society of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics, and he is a Fellow of the American College of Clinical Pharmacology.  His other memberships include: Sigma Xi (University of Pennsylvania), the American Federation for Medical Research, the Society for Experimental Biology and Medicine, the Society for Investigative Dermatology and the American Academy of Dermatology.

Among the awards he has received for original research are those from the American Academy of Dermatology (1970, 1981, 1985), the College of Physicians of Philadelphia (1971), the Medical Society of New Jersey (1975), the American Medical Association (1975), the Southern Medical Association (1971) and the American Society of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics (2002).
